If you're suffering from back pain, you'll want to get relief from your misery just as quickly as you can. Back pain stretching is one way to accomplish that. Stretches for back pain are particular moves that have been created to concentrate on the muscles, tendons and ligaments located in the spinal region. In some cases a physiotherapist will assist you with the stretches, but frequently they're the sort of move that can be done in the comfort of your own home with no need for any special equipment.

Before you start doing any type of exercise for your back, it's critical that you learn how to do them correctly. This way you'll avoid causing any further damage to the muscles, and you'll get the maximum benefit from the moves. If the exercises have been prescribed by your physician or physical therapist, they will almost certainly provide you with brochures that illustrate how to do the moves both in words and pictures.

When you start a back pain stretching routine it's essential that you keep a few things in mind. For example, it's important that you don't over exert yourself by doing the stretches too often or too vigorously in order to prevent damaging your muscles even more. Make sure your exercise area is set up with safety in mind, and choose clothing that isn't too tight or too loose, and will keep your muscles warm while you're working out.

There are a number of back pain stretching exercises that can be included in your stretching routine. Most of these stretches don't just make your back muscles more flexible, they actually make them stronger as well.

One of the back pain stretching techniques you could try is the knee to chest stretch. Start by lying on your back with your knees bent and the soles of your feet flat on the ground. Next, clasp the back of one of your knees using both hands, and slowly draw it towards your chest. Hold this position for several seconds, and then slowly return the knee to the starting position. Repeat these moves with the other leg.

Another straightforward back pain stretching move that you can try is simply bending your upper body forward towards the ground while standing. Slowly reach towards the floor with your hands without locking your knees. Don't go any lower than is comfortable. Then slowly return to the starting position. It's essential that you move slowly so you don't worsen any damage that the back muscles have already sustained.
